POISON PLACED IN FOOD
INTENT TO INJURE EMPLOYER (By Telegraph—Press Association) AUCKLAND, This Day. “You may consider yourself fortunate that you are not standing trial on a much more serious charge,” said Mr Justice Herdman, in sentencing to three years’ hard labour, Edward Charles VValsh (52), charged with administering poison to his employer at Te Awamutu, with intent to injure. “Fortunately you didn’t put enough poison in to kill him.”
Ilis Honour gave him the maximum on the charge. Walsh had previously been declared an habitual criminal.
