The need for fuller education ot Maori girls was dealt with in the report of the Wellington Methodist Charitable Educational Endowments Board. A proposal was made for the establishment of a college for Maori girls over 14 who would be given instruction in all branches ot domestic hygiene, nursing, housewifely, English language, and Bible knowledge. The neighbourhood of New 1 lymouth was proposed as a site for a college with an accommodation for forty or sixty girls.
