CHRIST’S SECOND ADVENT
An interesting series of four lantern talks on Christ’s Second Advent is announced to commence with an afterChurch meeting to-morrow night at <1.15 in the Marsden Church Hall. The chair will be taken by Lieut. Col. E. Bissett, and the speaker will be Mr Frank Varley, late of Melbourne, and more recently of Dunedin. Older folk will remember Mr Henry Varley. father of Mr Frank Varley, whose name as an Evangelist was almost a household word in Christian communities, by reason of a world-wide ministry. Of the special subject on which he is to speak Mr Varley has made deep study for many years, and the use of the lantern in illustration of scripture, with charts, maps, and views of Jerusalem, etc., is a feature of added interest introduced by him. These lantern talks when given in Australia attracted large audiences, as they have also done in Dunedin and Christchurch. With reference to the troubles that have been on the whole world since 1914, and which are perhaps to-day more acute than ever, Mr Varley is one of many students of Biblical prophecy, who believe that the solution of world problems will be found by direct Divine intervention.
The special theme for to-morrow evening is “World Wrongs Righted,” a phase of the general subject having relation to the world at large. The meetings will be continued next week, Monday to Wednesday, each evening at 7.30, when Mr Varley will speak on “The Next Great Event,” “The Jew —A World Portent” and “Present Day Signs.”
