WEDDING

FOWLER—HICKEY A very pretty wedding was solemnised at St. Mary’s Nelson, recently, the officiating, clergyman being Father O’Connell. The contracting parties were Leo, son of Mr Fowler, of Blenheim, and Elsie Mary, daugher of Mrs M. Hickey, of Nelson. The bride, who was given away by her brother, Mr B. Hickey, wore a cream dress made in mediaeval style, with a tiglit-fitting satin bodice and long skirt formed of georgette frills. Her veil, arranged as a Juliet cap, fell in a long train which was carried by two tiny tots, Joy Davies and Mark O’Connor- She carried a lovely shower bouquet of white lilies and gypsophilla. The bridesmaid. Miss Molly McAuliffe, of Tutaki, wore a cream georgette frock, the skirt of which was formed of petalled frills. Her hat was a beautiful white crinoline, turned back from the face and forming wings, and her shower bouquet was of cream carnations. The three flower girls, Bridget and Faeala O’Connor, and Joy Davies, were in Early Victorian frocks of cream tulle. They wore bands of silver leaves and carried pink and heliotrope posies. The little page boy wore an old-fashioned cream velvet suit with lace ruffles. The bridegroom was supported by Mr B. Wells, of Denniston, as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Velma. The happy couple left by boat for Wellington en route to their future home at Fort Chalmers. The honeymoon was spent at Queenstown. The bride’s travelling dress was of apple-green crepe de chine.
