BOXING

CLUB FORMED IN NELSON Mr J. Watson, ex-featherweight champion of New Zealand, took the chair at a well-attended meeting held for the purpose of forming a boxing club. Addressing the meeting Mr Watson stated that from the many requests that had linen made to liini" he felt that, a club of this nature would he popular. Every ollnjr spoil was well represented in Nelson and there was no reason why boxing should not. be. Mr Forward, the present welter champion of Canterbury, who will bo resident in Nelson for some time, also said a few words on boxing and the desirability of the formation of such a club, and offered his services as coach. The following committee was elected: E. Symunds (lion, secretary and treasurer). B, Richardson (club captain), E. Puddle, D. Amalric (masseur) and G. Gilliland. Tho name of (lie Club was registered as (lie Nelson Boxing and Athletic Club. The club is much indebted to Mr Watson, who has kindly lent all his gear to the club.
