FIERCE RIOTING

Fierce rioting occurred at Bewal, a Hindu-Sikh village,- as a result ,of) a Moslem schoolteacher cooking cow flesh, which is sacred to the Hindus. . .The Moslem, who was beaten by the Hindus, informed the Moslems in adjoining . villages who besieged Bewal, and looted and burnt fifteen shops, defiled a Hindu temple, flinging cow flesh into it, and burnt alive a Sikh watchman^,., . „ The number of casualties is unknown.
