WAKEFIELD TOURNAMENT 81 PLAYERS ENGAGED WIN FOR TUNNICLIFFE’S RINK This fixture was, as usual, a great success, no less than 84 players being engaged. This necessitated 5 ltyes in each round. It was a very animated scene to see this number of bowlers, the majority of whom were wearing their club colours. The club supplied a bountiful supply of refreshments including morning and afternoon tea and lunch. This entailed a large amount of work for the ladies. There were three rinks left in with 4 wins each. Wakefield rink, Poole, Reader, Ricketts, Lewis (s) and two Maitai rinks, Wright, Kitchinginan, Hurrell, Fowler (s); Cay, Kecch, Stringer, I. Tunnieliffo (s). Lewis and Fowler played off, Fowler winning 12 to nil. Tunnieliffo then played Fowler in the finals, 7 heads, Tunnieliffo-win-ning 12 to nil. r At the conclusion of the games, Mi Wadsworth, president of the Wakefield Club, thanked the players of the different clubs for turning out m such numbers and presented the prizes to the winners and runners up. Cheers were exchanged, and T. Tunnieliffo, an ex..resident of the Wakefield dub, responded on behalf of the visiting bowlers.
