EASY FOR MEADOW LARK (By Telegraph—Spocial to ' The Mail”) CHRISTCHURCH, 28th December. Royal Saxon, who struck himself on the first day, Spoon and El Boa, were withdrawn from the Grandstand Handicap, and Meadow Lark and Rin Tin Tin carried more than half the pool, with Palermo and Waving Corn next fancied. Aspiring slipped the field at the start and led the favourite and Silver Paper round the far turn, Rin Tin Tin and Palermo tailing off. Aspiring led Meadow Lark, Silver Paper, Money Mine and Waving Corn into the straight. At the distance .Meadow Lark took charge and ran home a very easy winner by two lengths from Aspiring, who beat Waving Corn by a head. Silver Paper was threequarters of a length away, fourth. Money Mine was next and Rin Tin Tin last.

MOUNT BOA DEFEATS CATERPILLAR

Compris, with L. J. Ellis in the saddle, made a good favourite for the St. Andrew’s Handicap. Caterpillar at once took charge and led Sapient, Spoon and Pink Note along the back. At the far turn Caterpillar was still in charge, with Spoon, Sapient, and Pink Note next, and Compris and C'amisader lying last. Caterpillar led Spoon, Pink Note, Sapient and Mount Boa into the straight. At the distance Mount Boa challenged Caterpillar and beat her home by a short length. Sapient was half a length away third, followed by Spoon, and Camisader.who finished very fast, Charmaine and Compris. Taboo was again last.
