ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIP PROMINENT PLAYERS NOT PARTICIPATING (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON. sth December. Lindrum, McConachy, Davis and NeWi man have requested the Billiards Association to adopt napless cloth and consult them regarding the financial terms of the English championship. Both re-. quests were ignored, and consequently Lindrum and Davis announce that they are not competing in the championship. It is believed that Newman is contemplating going to Austra&a. Also McConachy and Willie Smith are not competing in the championship. Thus the world's five best billiardists are nob participating. LONDON, 7th December.
At billiards Davis is 24,613, including a break of 287. Lindrum is 25,867, including breaks of 327, 284, 293, and 434. Newman is 36,230 including breaks of 933, 109, 150, 697, 549, 424, and 1160. He defeated McConachy who mad©' 19,374 including breaks of 315, 297. At snooker Davis is 1833 and Lindrum 1082. Newman made 1611 and McConachy 1499.
