WEST INDIES V. SOUTH AUSTRALIA
GOOD SCORE BY HOME SIDE VISITORS DEMORALISED BY GRIMMET AND WAITE (United Pros* A-woniation— By Elestrlc TeleirraJph—Copyright) ADELAIDE, Oth December. For the resumption of the cricket match, West Indies v. South Australia,
the wicket was fast and the weather fine.
A feature was the last wicket Htand by Wall and Walker, two internationals, who showed contempt for the bowling and took the score from 237 to 330 in ol> minutes. Earlier Lee and Grinimett punished the bowling, scoring 25 in 10 minutes; Constftntinje separating Lee at 55 in 115 minutes. Loncrgan, who was still sore- on account of his accident partnered Griminett, who when 50 stopped one with his pads. His back-wicket play was attractive.
The tail-enders batted stylishly. The Indians were alert ami accurate in the field, their throwing for long distances being a revelation. Constantine was particularly prominent in this respect. Walker and Wall batted confidently, the latter scoring 50 in 80 minutes. The Indians began their second innings briskly, but Griinmet and Waite were troublesome. The former's first wicket cost two runs, Wall catching Roach brilliantly. Birkett was out next ball from Grinimett whose average was two for 2. Waite's first wicket, which was Headely's, cost nine runs. Griminett again worried Grant, catching him for one.
. Martin and Bartlett had just posted the century when the former went leg before to Waite, and four runs later Hunte was sent to the pavilion, The Indians were puzzled and waited for Griimnett's slows. With four minutes to go Sealey was caught at silly point by Richardson. Grimmett's average is four for 38 and Waite's is three for 32, These bowlers had the visitors demoralised.
