PROSPECTS OF SETTLEMENT (By Telegraph—Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, 13th June, With the threat of a strike looming over the coal mine industry on the West Coast special importance is attached to a conference being held in Christchurch to-day between representatives of the Mine Owners’ Association and the United Mine Workers of New Zealand. From inquiries made at tlie luncheon adjournment it w-as ascertained that very satisfactory progress had been made and that there was every prospect of a complete settlement of all matters still in dispute being reached this afternoon.
