CITY ROADS
(To the Editor) Sir.—l see by "The Mail" that the City Council lias decided to restrict further tar sealing until more important work is accomplished, and that work will be done just where they have tar sealed the roads recently. This is most unfortunate for all who use our town roads. We were getting some done bit by bit, here a little and there a little, but now we will have our pot holes filled up with marbles again for the first motor car to fire out all over the road, heaping it up on the sides like the ocean beach. Then sometimes we get all these stony marbles thrown all over the road with absolutely nothing to bind them from flying about everywhere, making a moveable road. Surely the road sweepings could be put I with this so that the motor tyre could pat it down hard, thus saving the road roller,- if not this, say earth or clay mixed with the small stones which are now used, thus making it stay where put and no loss to anybody, whereas at present it is a big cost to the motor car and lorry owners, to say nothing of the waste of time and material to the council.—l am, etc., ECONOMIC. Nelson, 2nd June.
