HUNTERS DISAPPOINTED

REPORTS OF WILD ANIMALS LOVERS’ SIGNAL MISTAKEN PARIS, 21st May. Enormous excitement was caused in the Agen district recently by reports that wild animals, variously described as leopards, lions and hyenas, seen in the woods, had possibly escaped from a circus.

Hunts were organised without avail. Thousands of visitors arrived and journalists, photographers and cinemil operators assembled. The police officers threatened to resign, owing to their being called up at night to stalk animals which they were unable to find.

Jt is now reported that the whole story originated with two lovers, who imitated the hyena’s call as a signal when thev were meeting in the woods.
