Here is. the cast of the talkie version of the great stage success "Journey's End"— Captain Stanhope Colin Give. Lieutenant Eale'igh .... Derok Williams. Lieutenant Osborne .... lan MacLarcn Hibbett Anthony Buslicll. Trotter Billy Bcvan. Private Mason Charles Gerrard. Captain Hardy Robert A'Dair, Tho Colonel Jack Pitcairn. Sergeant-Major Thomas Whitcley, Corporal Boss Leslie Sketchley German Prisoner Warner Klinger. Colin Clivo who figures as Stanhope, is still playing the same role on the stage of the Prince of Wales Theatre in London, and was loaned by Maurice Browne to go to Hollywood to act in the pictorial transcription. ACTUAL FIGHTING INTRODUCED Joseph Moncure March, wlio is responsible for the script of the pictorial adaptation of "Journey's End," arranged for the iilin to' begin with a trench scene at night with British soldiers making their way to the front line. They are Captain Stanhope's men, coming to relievo Hardy's company. The booming of guns is heard, also the tearing sound of machine guns and the occasional whine of monster shells. Wails are seen crumbling down on the Tommies.

'Die scone then shifts to the dugout on the St. Quentin sector. As in the plify, Captain Hardy is seen inspecting his socks when Lieutenant Osborne enters. The script then follows the play up to the point where Osborne and Raleigh start out on the patrol ordered by the Colonel. The film then shows the patrol, and Osborne and Raleigh are seen going over the top with their detachment. James Whale, who directed the stage play, himself served at Ypres, and he puts into the film some of his own experiences.
