USE OF TOTALISATOR INVESTMENTS INCREASING LONDON, ir "h May. The sums passing through totalisators on .English racecourses are steadily increasing says the first report of the Betting Control Board! Attendances at meetings where the machines are installed show an. average increase of 20 per cent., the inci'oase in individual cases- being as high as 80 per cent. Comparing tho totalisator with the bookmakers, the report states that if a slake of £1 had been placed on every winning horse in 1929 it would have returned from tho totalisator £3419, and from the bookmakers £2058, the comparison, showing to tlie advantage of tho machine to the extent of 45 per cent.
