SIR JOSEPH WARD
STILL SERIOUSLY ILL SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT LAST NIGHT (By Telegraph—Press Association) ROTORUA This Day. After having given cause for- the gravest anxiety all day Sir Joseph Ward’s condition revealed a slight improvement last night, but he is still seriously ill. He was quiet but conscious throughout the day and recognised members of his family, besides reading newspapers at intervals.
FAMILY SUMMONED TO ROTORUA

AUCKLAND. 29th May. This afternoon Mr Vincent Ward stated during an interview on the telephone that the condition of' Sir Joseph Ward was very serious, although there had been no change since the Press Association message from ‘Rotorua was dispatched. Members of the family, including Mrs B. B. Wood, daughter of Sir Joseph, and -Mr Wood bad gathered at Rotorua in response to-an urgent summons. Mr Pat Ward, youngest son r of Sir Joseph, was expected to arrive at Rotorua this evening.
CONDITION THIS AFTERNOON
SITT-L VERY WEAK

AUCKLAND, This Day. In a conversation ..with Mr Vincent Ward over the telephone at 1.30 p.m. the “Star” learned that Sir Joseph was still very weak, and the five members of bis family were in attendance.
