AN ASSAULT CHARGE

WOMEN CHASED BY CYCLIST (By Telegraph— Presß Association) FEILDING, Bth April. William Adams, aged 53. was charged in the Police Court to-day with assaulting two young women on the night of 31st March. The evidence showed that the women were going home on bicycles. About a mile from Feilding, the accused was stated to have followed them on a bicycle, and caught hold of each girl in turn. They screamed, and the accused made off, but not before a bicycle lamp was flashed on his face, thus enabling one of the girls to identify him. The accused endeavoured to prove an alibi, but the Bench was satisfied, with the police evidence. The accused was fined £5 on each of two charges. The fines were later increased to C 5 Is to enable an appeal to be lodged.
