CUT IN TAXATION

PROSPEROUS FRANCE BIG REDUCTION IN DUTIES £40,000,000 ANNUALLY (Unitod Press Association—By Electrio Telegraph—Copyright) PARIS, Bth April. The Government has decided upon a tax reduction of £12,000,000, of which '£7,200,000 will be in reduction of duties on joint stock securities. This, added to the reduction voted in 1939, will bring the total annual cut in taxation to £40,000,000. Cabinet considered reducing the piesent 10 per cent tax on luxury goods, but made no decision.

WOOL TAXATION

(Received 9th April, 12 noon.) PARIS, Bth April. M. Tardicu informed a deputation from the woollen industry that lie would shortly be granting tax reductions on wood amounting to half a million sterling. Ho promised to carefully examine the whole system of wool taxation.
