HOUSE OF COMMONS HOUSING BILL CLEARING SLUM AREAS (United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright) LONDON, 7th April. In (lie House of Commons, Mr Green, wood, moving the second reading of the Government's Housing Bill, said that the Bill introduced a new method of clearing slum areas, simplified the purchase of homes, and enabled local authorities to develop a coherent housing poiicy. A crowded House applauded the maiden speeches of Miss Megan Lloyd George and Mr Malcolm MacDonald. The debate was adjourned.
ARMY BILLS The Army Annual Bill was read a third time. The House agreed to an amendment rectifying the vote on Sir G. Courthorpe's amendment. Mr Shaw said that the death penalty was now restricted to treachery and mutiny. LIBERAL CANDIDATE LONDON, 7th April. Mr Edgar Wallace, the novelist, has been adopted as the Liberal candidate for Aylesbury division of Buckinghamshire. ' CONSERVATIVE RESIGNING VANCOUVER, 7th April. Sir Frank Nelson, Conservative member for Sti'oud, Gloucester, announced at Dayton, Ohio, on Monday his resignation from Parliament to become gen oral manager of the British blFiiich of a Dayton cash register concern.
