BOXING

REORGANISATION OF NELSONASSOCIATION Mr G. P. Aldridge, socrotary of the Now Zealand Boxing Association is in Nelson for the purpose of reorganising the Nelson Boxing Association, which lias been out of operation for six years. There are at present 46 associations ill New Zealand, and Mr Aldridge considers a City the size of Nelson can support a Boxing Association. Mr Aldridge considers that at the present time the standard of boxing in New Zealand is very high, and the public interest is proved by the interest taken in the recent Donovan-Sar-ron fights. Mr Aldridge, who was the wireless announcer at the meetings of Sarron and Donovan in New Plymouth and Wellington, received a number of congratulatory letters from Nelson people on the description of the fights, also on his comments in support of the broadcasting of Rugby matches with the Englishmen. A meeting of those interested in the reorganisation of the Nelson Association will be held in the Library Institute to-night, when Mr Aldridge will address the meeting. There is considerable interest being taken in the sport and a largo attendance is expected. It is the intention of the Association to hold a tournament in Nelson on 9th May (first race night), when it is expected to have a number of Wellington boxers over.
