NELSON AND TAHUNA On Saturday evening the session of the Loyal Nelson Lodge was held in the Rechabites Hall, presided over by Chief Templar Bio. Somcrvillo. Following the opening lessons. Bro. Watson, S.L.W., read articles from English papers dealing with the drink problem in ttip Ulcl Country. . ; . The coming Grand Lodgo session to bo hold at Christchurch during Easter week was fully discussed, including the remits that will bo brought before the session from tho various lodges. The Loyal Nelson Lodge and the Nelson-., and fahuna Temples are to bo represented by Sister Watson and Bros. Somerville, Vercoe, Watson (grand marshall), and and Burrows (G.S.L.W.). The Hope of Nelson Temple weekly session was held prior to the lodge, presided over by Sis. Joan Mitchell, Chief Templar. Tho programme items included pianoforte selections by Sisters Freda and M. Gubb, and Joan Mitchell; vocal duet by Sisters M. and J. Gubb; recitations by Sisters Joan Williams, E. Kenmare, and V. Ingram. Bro. Owen Mitchell also assisted by rendering a recitation and a song. The various items were well given and were much appreciated. The item announced for next week was "Word Building Competitions." The superintendent of the Hope of Tahuna Temple reported on the weekly session held in the Public Hall, Tahuna, on Wednesday /evening, Bro. ,T. Shirreffs, chief templar, presiding. A good number of conundrums riddles and recitations were given. Bro. G. Jackson being' adjudged to have given the best, was awarded a prize. Bro. Watson, superintendent of the Nelson Temple, was present, and introduced an interesting game which created much excitement among the young folks. A quoits compe--tition was won by tho superintendent, Bro. Somerville. Bro. Lucko was welcomed on his return from a trip to the Old Country, and acknowledged the welcome extended to him.
Greetings were received from Bro. Rennie,' G.S.E.W., on behalf of tho Lily of the Valley Temple just opened at Beckenham, ■ Christchurch, and were heartily reciprocated; also from the Silver Fern Senior Temple recently opened in Sydenham, Christchurch. Tho item announced for next session was "Storoyettes," a prize to be awarded for the best.
