. AUCKLAND, Ist April. His Excellency the Governor-General and Lady Blcdisloe arrived by the Limited express this morning, and were formally welcomed by the Mayor (Mr G. Baildon) and other public 'officials. This afternoon Their Excellencies will make a tour of the city and suburbs tinder the guidance of the Mayor. A public reception will take place in the Town Hall at 8.15 o'clock to-night. Their Excellencies were met on arrival by the Hon. J. B. Donald, and an official welcome was given. The party included the Hon."A. J. Stallworthy and Commander Nelson Clover, R.N.. and Lieutenant Senile, R.N. The Grammar School Cadets, with a band, provided the guard of honour. There was a liberal display of hunting, and the people, cheered as Their Excellencies proceeded to. Government House. '

INVITATION TO BRITISH ASSOCIATION AUCKLAND. This Day. The Governor-General announced' at a civic welcome that, as an old member of the council of the British Association, he had. with the consent of the Government of this Dominion, dispatched a cablegram asking that the association should hold its annual meeting in New Zealand in 1934. Lord Blcdisloe explained that he had taken this step in recognition of the work being done in many branches of science in this country. ' He had every reason to believe that the invitation would be accepted.
