This is the (irst time the present sys'em of scoring has been in operation locally, being the same as used in the English County competition. With the good wickets available here a big proportion of the games are not able, to be finished oulright in two afternoon's play, and the system does not seem quite suitable to local conditions. Only four of the 12 matches were played right out and the table shows the remarkable fact thai while Athletic won only two games they are ahead of Old Boys who won 4, while the latter, winning only one less game than the cup winners are 14 points behind them.
As was anticipated at the time, the championship turned on the. Wakatu-Old Boys gam.'! in the first round when the former gained a very narrow two wicket. Whichever team took' the 8 points in that match won the championship. Wakatn have a keen, solid team containing several young players new to Nelson and have worked well together.
