OPENING OF SEASON One of the largest crowds for sonic years took part iu the opening of the Nelson (iolt Club's season on Saturday afternoon. The weather was of the best, and the links, all hough on the dry Bide, played well. This match was a mixed foursome Hag handicap, and was won by 11. ('. Cock and Mrs Cock, who took the Hag within a few inches of the 19th hole. \V. C. Ilarley and Mrs liar ley also reached the 19th green, bill lock's approach shot from a bunker just placed the ball in a winning position. ,
MELHORN WINS LAGORCE CHAMPIONSHIP (United Press Association— By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) NEW YORK, 22nd .March. A message from Miami beach stales that the .famous Lagorce Open golf championship in which Hagcn and Kirkwood would have competed if they bad been in America was won by Melhorn with 2iJ5 and Horton-Smith second with 286. Smith started the day three strokes behind the winner and worked up to a three strokes lead, but the final three holes were; a series of misfortunes for Smith. Armour was ihircl and Burke and Cruickshauk lourlli with 291.
