RYDER MAKES 168 AND SAVES

BRISBANE, 3rd February. In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland Victoria in the first innings made 313—Ryder 168. He gave a couple of difficult chances, but otherwise batted forecefully and saved his side. Bowling—Larwood took four wickets for 83 runs, Hornibrook three for 8"/, Thurlow two for 50. Queensland in the second innings lost two for 74—Benstead 53 not out.

Wakatu juniors beat Post and Telegraph by 63 runs on the firsf innings on Saturday. Post and Telegraph made 93 and lost seven wickets for 117—McBride 17, Sexton 22 and 30. Veysey 14, Weir 10, McMaster 40, Mullins 13. Stewart 11. Bowling for Wakatu Stewart took three for 15 and 1 for 15, Wills none for 10 and one for 21, Hill none for 10 and two for 7, Jones none for 5 and one for 0, Day one for 9 and none for 18, Snow none for 7, Coombs three for 19 and one for 36 Gaskell one for 17 and two for 10. Wakatu made 156—Stewart 11, Wills 54, Davies 30, Day 11 not out, Hill 12. Bowling for Post and Telegraph Mcßride took none for 50, Veysey three for 22, Sexton four for 48, McMaster none for 11.
