SOME MINERS RETURNING TO WORK (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 3rd February, 10.15 a.m.) v SYDNEY, This Day. At a special meeting of the Millfield Great miners' lodges it was decided to resume work to-day and to throw off the authority of the "South Maitland rank and file* conference. The miners were withdrawn from this mine in December as the result of a meeting at which the "Reds" were in control. MONEY FOR IDLE MINERS SYDNEY, 2nd February. It is estimated that contributions and levies of unionists to idle miners in the northern coalfields since March last amounted to £1,300,000. of which £500,000 was contributed' by miners who have worked throughout the dispute. Mr Weaver, Minister of Mines, expresses the opinion that with peace at least 5000 miners cannot be reabsorbed into this'; industry.
