SMALL FARMS

PROPOSAL FOR OIINERS

(By Telegraph—Press Association)

HAMILTON, This Day

A scheme to provide smalj farms for millers, where they might work during slack times at the mines, was laid before the Minister of Lands by a deputation at Huntly last evening. An offer of 8200 acres near the Kotowaro mines was made on behalf of Mr J. Ralph, who would accept in payment debentures at 4 per cent. It was stated that the miners were now working only live shifts a fortnight.

The Minister said that if difficulties of subdividing and providing water could be overcome, the matter would be laid before the Land Purchase Board.
