Mr John lioden, London buyer for Messrs W. McKay and Son, who has been visiting Nelson, left this morning for Christchurch via the West Coast.
Mr H. A. 0. Davy has been appoint* t\| Auckland provincial secretary of the ed United Party. Mr Davy is the eldest sun of Mr A. It. Davy, Dominion chairman of the party, and has already had considerable experience in the political arena. He abandoned a course in law at the Auckland University College to interest himself in politics’ and for a tune was acting-secretary to the party, tie acted as secretary to the Prime Minister. Sir Joseph Ward, when he opened his campaign in Auckland.
Ihe new head of the Salvation Army. General Higgins, has notified Commissioner Hav of the l appointment of Colonel Levi Taylor, at present Field Secretary for the Canada-East territory, with, headquarters at Toronto, to the position of Chief Secretary (second in command to Commissioner Hay) nl operations in New Zealand. He and Mi* Taylor are expected to arrive in Auckland during the coining week-end.
