CLAIM AGAINST EMPLOYER
FAILURE TO PAY WAGES WEEKLY EX-LICENSEE OF TRAFALGAR HOTEL The Inspector of Awards (Mr_ M. Ross) proceeded against William Percy Baker at the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr T. E. Maunsell, S.M., yesterday claiming penalties for tlireo alleged breaches of |the factories Ac|t. Ihe charges dealt with the defendant when ho was licensee of the Trafalgar Hotel. The alleged breaches were: (1) Failure to keen a time and wages book; (2) failure to pay wages weekly, and (3) failure to nay a proportionate holiday allowance. » The defendant was represented by Mr R. Kerr who said that his client bad not forwarded certain promised information. . Tho inspector outlined .the fadts winch had caused him to bring the action. He said the case was rather a had one. The Magistrate adjourned the second and third charges to give the opportunity to pay the amounts due. His Worship said that if the defendant failed to do so a heavy penalty would he inflicted. On the claim for failing to keep a 'time and wages book the Magistrate gave judgment for the inspector and assessed the penalty at £3.
