COUNTY COUNCIL’S CONGRATULATIONS

Sir Joseph Ward’s stated policy to complete the Dominion’s main trunk railways, including the Nelson-West Coast line, was referred to at to-day’s meeting of- the Waimea County Council by the chairman (Councillor J. Corder). Councillor Corder said that all local bodies in the district should do everything in their power to assist the work aiid ne moved the following resolution: That this Council congratulate Sir Joseph Ward on the forward policy • adopted by him in connection with the proposed completion of the main trunk railway lines of the Dominion, and notices with satisfaction that that portion af the Midland railway from “Inangahua to Gowan bridge” is to be proceeded with vigorously, and we trust that the work will be brought to a successful issue in the very near future—and further that the Waimea County Council endorses the action of His Worship the Mayor of Nelson, in '■ extending an invitation to the Prime Minister to visit Nelson, and we sincerely hope that Sir Joseph will be able to accept the invitation at an early date.

The motion was seconded by Councillor Higgins, and after other councillors had spoken supporting it, was carried unanimously..
