There are to he some trial surveys on the southern end of the route before a permanent survey can be completed. All the field work has been done on the Wairoa-Gisborne section of the Na-pier-Gisborne line, full detail? having been secured regarding both the coastal and the inland routes. Survey work, the Minister stated which is needed for the continuation of the Westport-Inangahua line is to be put in hand shortly.
