The editor 6f the “Sun” has received a cheque for £SOO from the Christchurch citizen who originated the proposal to erect a memorial in Christchurch to the navigator and explorer Captain Cook. A public meeting will be held shortly to organise the community’s support for a project which has been generally approved, in particular by the Canterbury Progress League and the Christchurch branch of the Navy League, and which has been so generously started. y-virvyW ‘.U-. ••
