THIRTY-FOUR MEN DROWNED

(Received 27Tb November, 12.50 p.m.) LONDON, 26th November. The weather in the North Sea is still most severe.

Numerous casualties are reported, including a number of men being washed off ships. The captain of the Swedish steamer Gann, when the storm was raging and a lifeboat arrived, refused the crew permission to leave the vessel. Suddenly the Garni foundered at the mouth of the Zuider Zee. One man leaped into the water and was rescued by the lifeboat, but sixteen were drowned.

The French transport Cesaree sank during the storm off tho Moroccan coast. Eighteen of the crew were drowned and four saved by vessels which answered the wireless S.O.S.
