MOTORISTS AND NOISE

TEST FOR A MINISTER DEFENCE OF ELECTRIC HORN LONDON, Ist November. Afany motorists called at the office of file Ministry of Transport to defend tho electric motor horn which the anti-noise proposals of the Minister, Colonel W. Ashley, would abolish. The result was pandemonium, says the “Manchester Guardian.”

It was urged that the bulb horn, officially favoured as more quiet, was as noisy as any, and that its action was slower and more uncertain. Officials of the Automobile Club brought a car from which they demonstrated the effectiveness of tho two-note horn, while Lord Curzon, whose speeding proclivities have led to him being brought before the court more than once, performed vigorously on a gong. Flapping mudguards are not defended, but motor horns play a small part in the cacophony of London. Compared with the electric pick, they sing a silent song.
