Apparently pirates boarded the helpless steamer,, thoroughly looting and setting lire to it, then decamping ill junks.

Just previously the Dutch steamer Tjitaroem rescued'2oo passengers. So far the casualties are not known, but it is believed they are heavy. It is believed that probably the pirates were aboard before the steamer was wrecked.
