LOOTED AND FEED
A CHINESE STEAMER PIRATES’ ACTIVITIES heavy casualties feared United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copy right United Service (Received 14th November, 9.15 a.i11.) HONG KONG, 13ih November. A wireless message from H.M.S. Se.ra])his, which had proceeded hurriedly to t.be Chinese steamer 11 sin Chi, which is ashore at Tai Island, near Amoy, reveals a story of wanton destruction. Apparently pirates boarded the helpless steamer,, thoroughly looting and setting lire to it, then decamping ill junks.
Just previously the Dutch steamer Tjitaroem rescued'2oo passengers. So far the casualties are not known, but it is believed they are heavy. It is believed that probably the pirates were aboard before the steamer was wrecked.
