CAWTHRON INSTITUTE

(To the Editor) ""' Sir,—l was very pleased indeed to liavo had tho pleasure of hearing tho lecture given by Sir John Russell.on Wednesday evening. The CaWthr&h Trustees deserve every credit for th«fc most excel-: 'lent lecturers they secure for the annual Oawthjon feature. Nelson is indeed fortunate in having had such people as the late Mr Oawthron and the Marsden family to "found" and carry on such an institution as tho Cawthron Institute. The names of these great benefactors will go down to posterity,, while tho rest of us will be forgotten as soon as wo pass away. Just imagine how wonderful to think that in 500 years' time or 5000 years' time to have such names " as '"household words" to conjure with. Such people have done their duty and can never be forgotten:—! am, etc., A PARMER. Nelson, 11th Aug.
