CANADA’S NATIONAL DAY
A DRAMATIC SUGGESTION United Prose Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright Australian Press Association OTTAWA, 12th July. A dramatic and sensational move to stimulate observance of Canada’s national day came on the eve of the 12th July celebrations from Colonel R. IT. Stacey, for seven years grand chaplain of the Orange Order of Ontario. Ho urged Catholics and Protestants to hold a joint celebration on Ist July instead of the French Canadians St. Jean Baptist Day on 24th June, and the Orange Day on 12th July. Great weight is attached lo the suggestion, because Ontario is overwhelmingly Orange. At Toronto to-day there was a parade of 10,000 people.
