MOTORISTS' IMPORTATION OF PETROL

DISCUSSION IN SYDNEY

Onited Press Association—By ' Electric Telegraph—Copyright

(Received 22nd Mav. 11.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Dav

Whether motorists should import their own petrol as is to be done by the Canterbury [New Zealand) Automobile Association, is the subject of discussion in Sydney, but representative men disapprove. They argue that the petrol price is not unreasonable. Country charges merely have the freight added, while the distributors work at all hours every day in the week for the convenience of motorists.

One prominent commercial mjin, Mr Boyd Edkins, declared that the Canterbury experiment would not last long. Another, Mr Murdoch. M.L.C.,' expressed the opinion that Canterbury must be getting cheap Mexican spirit. *
