STEADY FLOW

ITALIANS FOR AUSTRALIA

FUTURE EFFECT

ON TRADITIONAL BRITISH SPIRIT

United Press Association—By Eleotrio Telegraph—Copyright. Australian Press Association.—United service.

(Received 22nd May, 11.15 a.m.)

PARIS, 21st May

Henry Dekorab, the French publicist, in an article on British migration in "Lo Matin", says:—•'Presently there will only be three countries able to supply white migrants—Germany, Poland, and Italy. At present Germany is holding back, but Italy has begun a systematic scheme of colonisation. .Methodically and systematically Italians are going to Australia. The Australian authorities are not encouraging them, but they manage without it. Owing to their own excellent local organisation each newcomer finds the credits necessarv to establish him—a sort of loan of honour which the migrant engages to return by making a loan to. cohorts following him. It is easy to imagine that after years of this kind of penetration Australia and Canada will not retain the traditional aspect • of British dominions. Their spirit will, have changed and political tendenciesmodified."
