ANOTHER FOOTBALL SPLIT
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
LONDON, 2nd Maul
When tin- Fnothall Association with drew from the. Olympic dames on the cj Host ion of "broken time. it was realised that- they would he forced to take further action. They have now decided to i-ni themseive-, adrift from a!! the foot hall nations of Europe and the others who are members of the International Federation. For it was this body who persuaded the Olympic authorities to allow footballers, taking part in tlie dames, to lie paid for tiny loss they might stiller hv doing so. and they have persistently fought, against- this principle, and are not prepared to accept it.
Scotland, Ireland, and Wales have come to the same decision, and it, does not seem as though anything can prevent- a complete split.
America are members of the Federation, hut they have never shown any real desire to work ill friendly relations with the associations of this country. The strongest, protests have been made against, the way in which men have been poached in this country and Scotland. in particular, and, though promises have been made that the practice will he stopped, it still goes on to some extent. In a few days ft is expected that the whole of the £B,OOO required to pay the expenses of the Rritish Olympic team in Amsterdam will have been raised. Imt, ns has been said, there is to he no organised preparation. All candidates for the team will he left to their own resources, and will lie chosen largely on the form they show in the championships.
