ROAD BOARD CLERK AND ASSISTANT CHARGED

AUCKLAND, This Day. t lie clerk and assistant clerk of the eld Tarnaki Rond Board were arrested arid charged in tin* Magistrate's Court v.itli embezzlement. The total defalcations are said to be over £IOOO. Herbert Frederick Thomas Goodman, married, aged 35, clerk of the Road Board, was charged with stealing £250 between 3rd November, 1927 and 31st March, 1528. Chief Detective Hammond said the total defalcations in the case were £B4O. Accused was remanded, hail bping fixed at £SOO.

The assistant, clerk, Roy Herbert Fraser Arrol, aged 25, was charged with stealing £239 during, the same period. He was remanded to appear next- Monday, hail being fixed at self £3OO anil one sure! v of £3OO.
