TAKES REFUGE IN WOOD POLICE CORDON FORMED (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Australian A N.Z. Cable Association) (Received 4t.h Feb., 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, 3rd Feb. “The Times” Berlin correspondent states that a resident police detachment of the .Reichswehr has formed a cordon round a wood at Coburg in which an armed criminal named Hein has taken refuge. Hein is suspected of robberies and four murders. ■ A police sergeant who jumped off bis bicycle and attempted to arrest him, was shot through the head,, and Hein rode off on the bicycle. A second police officer overtook him, and Hein took ambush in a ditch, exchanging a fusilade until his ammunition was exhausted. Hein ,who was thought to be wounded, escaped, and he and an accomplice raided the post office at Ohligs at Christmas and shot two officials. The accomplice, Larm, was arrested. Hein afterwards shot two other policemen trying to arrest him, one fatally.
