STOLEN CARGO
WATERSIDE WORKER CHARGED (United Press Association) ; ' AUCKLAND, 16th Jan. Cargo pilfering was alleged against Edward James Eusenden (aged 34), a waterside worker, who pleaded not guilty in' the Magistrate's Court to a charge til stealing women's apparel, valued at £25, belonging to; the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company. Detective McHugh said complaints were niacin to him on sth September regarding extensive thefts,and cargo pilfering on the Pakeha. On searching the vessel, he discovered a quantity of stolen goixls in a lifeboat on the upper deck. On 13th December, witness searched accused's house. When interviewed, accused who was told he would be charged with theft, said: "I am caught. I am going to take my gruel. 1 intend to plead guilty to the. charge." Subsequently, accused made a statement to witness, in which he said he received the goods from his cousin, a fireman, on the Pakeha.
Accused was committed to the Sn preme Court for trial, bail being allow
