The Christcliurch district committee heard appeals in the: Rowley case from the disqualification by the stewards of tho Canterbury Jockey Club of the owner and trainer for two years, and the iockey for one year. The committee's decision was that Rowley was-deliberately pulled in the Riccarton Handicap, and the trainer Bagby was responsible for the instructions'issued to the jockey, Parker. Their appeals were dismissed. There was no evidence to directly implicate the owner, Mr McDonald, or to show he had backed another horse and his appeal was allowed. DISQUALIFICATION QUESTION AN UNUSUAL POSITION. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. At a meeting of the board of the NewZealand Trotting Association, the question whether the disqualification of a person also affected any foals running in his paddocks, was discussed. The subject arose through an application for registration of a horse by the owner, who was the son of a man who had been disqualified for life. It was stated by the son that he had received the colt'from his father when it was about five months old, in exchange for a fitly. The board decided to ask the present owner to make a statutory declaration regarding the ownership at the time of his disqualification. Mr R. Hayward said that he did not think it was ever intended that the sins of the father should be visited on the sons. The speaker was inclined to take a humane view of the matter. The secretary read rule 348, which stated that no horse, of which the disqualified person was or had been at the time of the offence,' owner, should, be qualified to be entered, nominated or started for any race.
