LECKfE DEFEATS CARROLL

DUNEDIN, 26th July
A professional boxing contest between Johnny Leckie. Dunedin. (Bst. I3£lb) and Mark Carroll, Wanganui, (9st. 4±lb.) took place to-night. The fight was scheduled for 15 rounds for a purse of £IOO, bat' in the eleventh round, in which Carroll was down three limes, rising at the count of nine each lime, the referee stopped the contest 30 seconds before the. end of the round. Leckie had the better of matters in practically every round, quite outboxing his opponent, who tried without success to> make it an infight. (Receiver 27th July, 1.45 p.m.) NEW YORK, 26th July.
Jack- Delnney relinquished the lightheavyweight title to-day, and will fight an a heavyweight.
