RICCARTON NOTES

(By Telegraph—Special to "The Mail") CHRISTCHURCH, 11th June At Riccarton today, Tarleton (R. MoSeveny) and Viewpoint (W. Scobie) were companions in a run over two schooling hurdles. The former has nothing to learn at the "business, but Viewpoint made a mistake at each fence. He rolled into Tarleton at (ho first hurdle and luckily kept his feet. He did l.ietter at the next fence, and with a little experience should make gcod in pie new sphere. All Gold (W. Scobie) and Gay Queen OA Kirwanj went oui together to do the schooling task, but Gay Queen baulked at the first hurdle. All Gold went' on alone, and showed some promise for a novice. Gay Queen has a private reputation as a jumper, and in subsequent efforts showed that it was not ill founded. Better things can be expected of her with more experience, though she. did not appear fully to appreciate the work allotted her to-day. Tuki, Sun Up and Magna Charta arrived bv the tern' this morning.

R. J. MASON'S TEAM FOR SYDNEY

\grion, who will bo the star member of R J. Mason's team when the veteran trainer leaves for Sydney at the end of this month, is in the best of health and he appears to revel in his daily tasks on the tracks. „,.„.. i The Demosthenes colt Philhpic, who mav also make the trip, is well forward for" this period. He showed some form at Easter and he should make a useful three-year-old. . The Sutala filly Shahmar is another who is being kept busy so she may be a Sydney possibility. Already she has demonstrated that she possesses speed. The yearling gelding Gobhn Market, by Absurd from Cherry -Mart, has been nominated for a number of Australian events from which it may he fairly argued that he is likely to be included in the team. This would be no surprise. Mason's ability is never more in evidence than when preparing two-year-olds, and Goblin Market looks the part of a breeder's plate candidate.
