BUY EVERYTHING BRITISH

'To the Editor) Sir,- -Kindly allow me space in your columns to make a few remarks ori" the whole, page advertisement headed up “We’re Ready,” which appeared in a recent issue of your paper, a copy of which 1 enclose herein. I quite agree with all that, is said in regard to the advice given to buy New Zealand-made goods,' but I would like to add that failing the buying of New Zealandmade goods, we should buy goods made in Great Britain. It- is a crying shame that so many of our wealthy people in the Old Country do see fit lo invest their monies in foreign lands, and by doing so help tlie foreigners to build themselves up to fight us at some future date. Surely these same wealthy men could do more good with their capital if they helped to build up our own Empire by investing their money in our own British colonies. The recent Arcos raid has shown us only too clearly what we may expect from Russia, which country was mainly the cause of the prolongation of the" Great War through turning “dog” on us, so to speak. Now, sir, if you will look closely into the advertisement referred to you will, I think, find that the design of the printing block was made in America, the get up of the workmen depicted thereon is. if I am not greatly mistake:!, typical. “Yankee.” Surely we have, artists in New Zealand or in the Oil Country capable of illustrating our own flesh and blood. Why do we have to depend on Americans to advertise Brit-ish-made goods? As an observant reader of such advertising matter. I cannot fail to notice that at least 75 per cent, of tin* blocks for advertisements are made in U.S.A., and consequently thousands ot pounds are paid annually to the foreigner. I am, etc.. " “TRUE BRITON.”
