CAMP INCIDENT
CHARGES AGAINST A STAFF SERGT-MAJOR (Unite/ 1 Press Association) HAWERA, This Day Charges of disobeying a lawful command given by a superior officer, using insubordinate language, and performing an act to prejudice good order and military discipline were preferred against Staff Sergt.-Major J, C. Mahoney at a sitting of a court-martial ■ to-day. -The charges arose from an incident alleged to have taken place at the annual camp of the Second Mounted Rifles at the Waverley racecourse last month. Accused refused to go to a tent when ordered to do so by Captain B. W. Harvey. He refused to take orders from a territorial officer, and performed an insulting actwith his hand. Counsel for accused raised objection to the charges on the ground that a territorial officer had no jurisdiction over a rntimber of the permanent start.
