DAIRY PRODUCE

CO OPERATIVE MARKETING APPROVED

RESOLUTION OF NELSON FARMERS’ UNION

In reference to Mr 0. C. Wilkinson's letter concerning business at the recent annual meeting of the Nelson Farmers’ Union, the secretary informed “The Mail” that the following resolution was passed dealing with a certain passage in the report presented by the retiring chairman (Mr Fargher):—“That the words ‘dairy control in the hands of extremists may do much to destroy the markets we already possess’ should be deleted.” We regret that our report indicated that the chairman’s remarks were adopted without the deletion of these words.

The (ext of the remit favouring dairv control, which was approved, and was inadvertently omitted from our report was as follows:—“That this conference approves of the principle of co-opera-tive marketing of dairy produce and expresses confidence in Messrs Brown, Thacker, Bryant and Ooodfellow.” Wo agree with Mr Wilkinson that this important resolution should be published and take tin’s first opportunity of doing so since our attention vis drown to the omission.
