RAID ON GAMING HOUSE

PROSECUTION AT ASHBURTON (United Press Association) ASHBURTON, This Day. As the result of a police raid on 3rd June Timothy Kissane was charged with using certain premises as a common gaming house. Basil Miller was charged with assisting in conducting the business of a common gaming house and carrying on the business or occupation of bookmaker. Miller pleaded guilty to the first charge and tho second was withdrawn. A fine of .EfiO and cost; 10/was imposed, a month being allowed for payment.

James Griffey and Archibald McNeill were each fined £2/10/0 and 10/- cost, for being on the premises. The ease against Kissane, who pleaded not guilty, was adjourned, bail being allowed in CIOO and a surety for a similar amount.
